Grupotec are pleased to have submitted their planning application to address the climate emergency and invest in the rural economy with Heydon Road Solar in Cawston.
In line with Broadland Council’s guidelines, they hope to receive a decision later this year.
The proposal would provide several important benefits, which you could highlight in your letter of support:
A generous Community Benefit Fund, worth up to £600,000, to invest in green infrastructure and other community-based schemes for nearby rural communities.
An impressive Biodiversity Net Gain, well over and above national planning policy, with, bird boxes, bat boxes, wildflower planting, new native trees, hedgerows and the restoration of an ancient pond too.
A green buffer, with new hedgerow, tree planting and wildflower meadows to reinforce the existing mature tree belts and ensure the site is well screened from view.
The solar farm will support the farming of crops for human consumption, by supporting the funding of an irrigation reservoir for the farm.
A convenient construction route which means that no construction traffic or HGVs will pass through local villages and hamlets in order to install the solar farm.
A commitment to Sheep grazing across the site, with an MOU already signed with a local shepherd, to maintain an agricultural use for the site.
